Enjoy a cultivated collection of themed appetizers and try our specialty cocktail, all before settling in for a captivating evening with multi-award-winning filmmaker Marc Smolowitz, director and producer of The G Word, a feature-length documentary currently in production, that aims to be the most comprehensive film to date on giftedness, intelligence, and diverse learners. The G Word focuses on the question, “Who gets to be gifted in America, and why,” and puts a social justice lens on gifted and talented education in the 21st century. Join Smolowitz as he presents two brand-new clips from his upcoming film—produced for giftED, and never before screened for a live audience. He will also facilitate a lively discussion on the power of storytelling as it relates to the social and emotional needs of our nation’s gifted and neurodiverse populations. Marc Smolowitz is a director, producer, and executive producer who has been significantly involved in 50+ successful independent films, wearing many hats across the film and entertainment business. His long list of credits includes films that have screened at top-tier festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, AFI Docs, IDFA, DOC NYC, CPH: DOX, Tokyo, Melbourne, Viennale, Krakow, and Jerusalem, among others. In 2018, he is currently in production on two feature documentaries as a director/producer, including The G Word, a film about giftedness, intelligence and neurodiversity, slated for 2020 completion. He is filming in all kinds of school settings, aiming for a film that can changes hearts and minds, has a great impact on all 50 states, and connects with a large national audience.
